Constructor /Engineering Manager: Offsite Discovery
Overview
Constructor is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Offsite Discovery engineering team. This role focuses on building and scaling high-performance, real-time discovery systems across multiple channels, aligning engineering strategy with product goals, mentoring engineers, improving system reliability, and supporting impactful ecommerce discovery experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale an engineering team responsible for Offsite Discovery systems.
- Define and execute engineering strategy aligned with product and business goals.
- Partner with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders to set priorities and roadmaps.
- Deliver high-impact features across real-time discovery and ecommerce channels.
- Mentor, coach, and develop engineers.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and building a strong engineering team.
- Establish and monitor system performance, reliability, scalability, and operational metrics.
- Improve infrastructure, processes, tooling, and delivery speed.
- Collaborate with other teams to define system boundaries and support integrations.
- Translate product requirements into technical strategy and execution plans.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- At least 2 years of experience leading or managing engineering teams.
- Experience designing and operating high-load, real-time systems in production.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, system architecture, and API design.
- Experience hiring, mentoring, and growing engineering teams.
- Ability to translate product requirements into technical strategy.
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical teams.
- Familiarity with JavaScript and modern web technologies is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a distributed remote team.
